Papa's Gift

For Father's Day I wanted to make something for my dad to go along with the gift we purchased for him. However, my plans changed as soon as I sat down at the table to start the project. I was going to make something a little more detailed than stickers on a jar. But, O'rien decided that he wanted to participate. So the plans were altered for a 3 year old craft project that he enjoyed doing instead. I am actually happy that we changed the plan. It was going to be just a decorated candy jar anyways, and this way O'rien got to make it more personalized in his style for Papa. Plus, he was very proud of it and super excited to give it to Papa for Father's Day.
O'rien of course also thought it was fun to help share the M&M's that were inside the jar. I have already noticed the jar has disappeared at my parents house. I am thinking that Papa must have hidden his secret jar so we chocolate thieves couldn't devour his candy....or maybe he just devoured it already on his own. The likely answer is probably a little bit of both.
Now we need to come up with a cute gift for O'rien to make for Daddy. I know it is a little after Father's Day, but it would be a nice touch to go with the Father's Day gift we purchased for him. Any ideas on what a good craft would be for a 3 year old to give to his Daddy?

I am curious to hear what all of you did for the Dad's in your life. I am sure some of you came up with some super crafty ideas.

Portland Activities

This week I wanted to display a few of the Portland activities that we did with you. I always love to find new things to do as a family, especially when they are relatively inexpensive or free.
We didn't do a whole lot of exploring, but we did head out to OMSI twice this week. We do have a yearly membership pass, which makes the outing very cheap! So, we headed out on Tuesday and then were asked to go again on Thursday. Both of these trips were fairly spur of the moment kind of deals, but when the activity is already paid for we might as well utilize the pass :) The kids have so much fun exploring and playing. I love that it is educational and entertaining. After the second day of OMSI, we headed down town to check out a few things at the camera store. We ended up not finding what we set out to, but a block away we did find a fun flower display in Pioneer Square. As you can see, O'rien thought it was fun! He wandered around while I snapped a few shots.

He thought it was fun to zig-zag around in the flowers, and he didn't want to leave them. I sort of think he thought of them as a maze, because they were spread across the square with walking paths in between. It was a nice added bonus to our down town adventure, since it was pretty to look at and free entertainment. So glad we came across it. Hopefully this will remind us all to check out what fun activities are happening in Pioneer Square, because I know there are other free events and displays down there quite often.

Do you know of any fun ones that we should put on our calendar?

Beginning One Fun Ride

Today marks the beginning of my new blogging journey. I don't know where this will take me, but a new adventure is always fun and exciting. I honestly never thought I would start a blog like this, because I am not usually one to even make postings on Facebook. But, here I am starting something new. I guess that is just what I do best. New adventures intrigue me, though I don't always know how long they will last. At least the journey is fun and I always learn something along the way.

So, for this new blog I have titled it "Little Bits Of Everything", because I really couldn't quite decide what I was actually going to focus my blogging attention on. Hence the all inclusive name. This way I won't feel so bad when I steer off course or try something different. I feel like I just have way too many interests to simply focus on one of them. I mean I had thought about another photo blog, but then decided that was a lot of work and I wasn't good at posting to it daily. Then I thought about simply a health blog, but wasn't sure if I would always have enough to post. I then considered a crafting blog, because I do enjoy those. However, that just doesn't seem like it would fit with my schedule. (The kids need a lot of my attention, so crafting is on the back burner.) Then there was the idea of just a simple family blog, but I didn't feel like that would encompass all that I wanted to share. This led me to my big dilemma....

So with a great deal of thought, or maybe not so much thought at all, I have now created "Little Bits Of Everything". I hope you will follow me on my new journey and find things of interest here and there. I do intend that at times I will be posting on all of my original ideas, and likely there will be more added to it. I really can't wait to see what new adventures I will come up with and great postings I will have to share with you. This is going to be one fun ride and I can't wait to take it!
